The local area is filled with things to do if you’re up for more than just resting in the house and garden during your stay.
There are fantastic walking and cycling opportunities right on the doorstep as well as nearby facilities for canoeing and kayaking.
You can easily get to the city of Poitiers to visit the ‘Futuroscope’ theme park if you’re feeling adventurous or go and wander round the magnificent cathedral.
The medieval city of Limoges which is known for its pottery is also close by (make sure to check out the ceramics museum!).
Further afield, it is easy to do a day trip to the fantastic seaside resort of La Rochelle which has a wonderful Natural History Museum and beach.
You could also venture to Bordeaux with its vineyards and there is the amazing Dune du Pilat not too far away either.
If you wish to indulge in local culture, there is a superb international dance and music festival in the commune of Confolens during August each year and is only a short drive away. http://www.festivaldeconfolens.com/
